മകര തൈപ്പൂയം മഹോത്സവം 2026 തെക്കൻ പഴനി ശ്രീ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ സ്വാമി മഹാ ക്ഷേത്രം ആലപ്പുഴ | Makara Thaipooyam Mahotsavam 2026 Thekkan Pazhani Sree Subramanya Swami Maha Kshetram Alappuzha
The Makara Thaipooyam Mahotsavam at Thekkan Pazhani Sree Subramanya Swami Maha Kshetram, Alappuzha is one of the most awaited and vibrant temple festivals in Kerala. Celebrated annually, this festival draws devotees from across the region who come to seek the blessings of Lord Subramanya and participate in the rich spiritual and cultural traditions of the temple.
The festival spans several days, beginning with the ceremonial Thrikodiyettam which marks the official commencement of the celebrations and invokes the presence of the divine.
Throughout the festival, the temple hosts a series of rituals, poojas and homams including the Ushapooja, Pallivetta and Aarattu each conducted with meticulous devotion. The daily Bhagavatha Parayanam and recitals of sacred texts create a spiritually charged atmosphere allowing devotees to immerse themselves in prayers and contemplation. Special offerings and homams are performed to seek prosperity, health and the fulfillment of wishes.
Cultural programs form an integral part of the Mahotsavam. Traditional art forms such as Thalappoli, Garudan Thookkam, Panchavadyam and classical dance performances are organized showcasing Kerala’s rich heritage and engaging devotees of all ages. Evening processions, adorned with beautifully decorated elephants and devotional music add grandeur and excitement to the festival. The Aarattu procession is particularly significant where the deity is ceremoniously taken to the river or temple tank for the holy bath followed by offerings and celebrations that involve the entire community.
