കാവടി മഹോത്സവം 2026 തൃപ്പുലിയൂർ മഹാവിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം ആലപ്പുഴ | Kavadi Mahotsavam 2026 Thripuliyoor Mahavishnu Temple Alappuzha
The Thrippuliyoor Mahavishnu Temple, revered as Bheemasena Tirupathi and one of the prominent Pancha Pandava temples in Kerala hosts its grand annual Kavadi Mahotsavam a festival deeply rooted in centuries old traditions and rituals.
This sacred celebration draws devotees from across the state and beyond, creating a vibrant spiritual atmosphere around the temple premises.
The festival spans several days, beginning with the Thirukodiyettu which marks the formal commencement of the celebrations. During this period, devotees engage in various devotional practices, including recitations of the Narayaneeyam and participation in special poojas all conducted under the guidance of the temple’s chief priest, Thantri Brahmasree Agnisharman Vasudevan Bhattathiripad. The meticulous adherence to rituals ensures that the spiritual sanctity of the temple is maintained as it has been for centuries.
A key highlight of the Mahotsavam is the Kavadi procession a spectacular and colorful display where devotees carry elaborately decorated Kavadis symbolizing their devotion and gratitude to Lord Mahavishnu. The procession is accompanied by traditional music, rhythmic drumbeats and chants creating an atmosphere of divine energy. Devotees from different regions participate with immense faith, seeking blessings for prosperity, protection and spiritual fulfillment.
Other rituals during the festival include Abhishekam, Akath Ezhunnallippu and evening ceremonies like Vela and Vilakku culminating in Thiruvathira and Deeparadhana, which are highly revered. The temple premises come alive with devotees, cultural activities and community participation, making the festival a remarkable blend of devotion, tradition and celebration.
