Kalakettu Mahotsavam at Pallickal Sree Kandalaswami Temple is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich temple festivals in Alappuzha, Kerala. The festival is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm by the local community and devotees from nearby regions highlighting the spiritual and traditional heritage of Pallickal village. Kalakettu Mahotsavam 2026  at Pallickal Sree Kandalaswami Temple The centerpiece of the festival is the worship of Lord Kandalaswami, who is revered in the form of Kirata Murthi symbolizing divine protection, prosperity and blessings for all devotees. The festival begins with flag hoisting, signaling the start of a series of religious and cultural events. One of the most captivating rituals is the Nandikesha Uplifting where the sacred bull, Rishabhaeshwara is ceremonially lifted and taken in a grand procession to the temple sanctum. This procession is accompanied by traditional Kerala percussion ensembles including the famous Kalakki Thrissur Vadya Melam creating an electrifying atmosphere that blends devotion and cultural grandeur.

Throughout the festival, Bhagavatha Parayanam sessions are conducted where the stories of Lord Krishna and other deities are recited fostering spiritual learning and community participation.
