This one of the oldest temples in Alappuzha. This temple has more than 200 years old history. Bhadrakali is the main deity of the temple. Annual festival of this temple is observed in the month of March/ April (Meenam). The festival is observed in order to increase the vigor of the deity. Annual festival starts in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March/April).

Aswathy Festival 2026 | Devi Temple Vathukulangara Alappuzha

It is a 9 days spectacular event. The shrine is traditionally decorated with plantain, coconut leaves, flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights. There are special poojas and offerings during the festival period. Traditional performing arts and music and dance are staged during the period. Kuthiyottam is also performed there, it is one of the major offering to Devi. Thousands of devotees throng to witness this temple on the festival days. Numerous cultural programs and temple arts are performed on all days of the festival. Kettukazhcha which showcases a rich vibrancy of colors are the major attractions of the festival. The nine days festival ends with guruzi. This is a spiritual ritual performed in the last day.
