Anpoli Mahotsavam is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich festivals celebrated at the Cheriya Pathiyoor Sree Durga Devi Temple in Alappuzha.
This festival is marked by deep devotion, traditional rituals and spectacular cultural events that bring together devotees from across Kerala.
The celebrations are organized under the patronage of the Thekkekkara Anpoli Committee, who ensure that the festival is conducted with grandeur and reverence for the goddess.
The festival features a series of devotional activities starting early in the morning including Harinama Keerthanam and Bhagavatha Parayanam which instill spiritual energy among devotees and create an atmosphere of devotion. A key highlight of the festival is the community feast or Samooha Sadya where hundreds of devotees and visitors partake in traditional Kerala cuisine reflecting the spirit of unity and sharing.
In the evening, the temple comes alive with Deeparadhana and Deepakazhcha creating a visually mesmerizing scene. Traditional dance performances like Kaikottikali and other cultural programs are performed by local dance troupes, adding color and rhythm to the festivities. The night culminates with the Anpoli procession accompanied by spectacular fireworks that illuminate the sky symbolizing the triumph of devotion and celebration.
