Panaynnar Kavu Devi Temple

This venerable temple is devoted to Goddess Durga in her powerful form, revered for her role as protector and grantor of prosperity. Crafted in the traditional Kerala architectural style, the shrine boasts a sanctum flanked by a mandapam and features intricately carved woodwork. The surrounding sarpa kavu (serpent grove) and talismanic wall murals add cultural depth to the spiritual atmosphere.



Festivals

The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :

Karthika Maholsavam (Meenam)
Held in the Malayalam month of Meenam, this festival is the temple’s main annual event. Devotees gather for vibrant rituals, offerings, and special poojas in honour of the Goddess’s protective power.

Noorum Paalum Oottu (Ayilyam)
During the Ayilyam nakshatra, the temple performs this unique ritual involving the ceremonial application of a mixture of rice powder, turmeric, and milk on serpent idols (Nagaraja/Nagayakshi). It is meant to appease serpent deities and counteract Rahu dosha.
