Kochu Kodungalloor Kavu Devi Temple located in the village of Muttar, Kuttanad Alappuzha district, the temple sits on Kidangara Chakkulathukavu Road, approximately 10 km from Thiruvalla and beside the Manimala River
The temple is devoted to Bhagavathy the divine Mother Goddess in her protective manifestation. Embraced by traditional Kerala architecture, it reflects regional kavu styles. Daily rituals include simple poojas and lighting of lamps, performed by local priests, offering a tranquil and sacred atmosphere to worshippers seeking blessings for family well‑being and prosperity.
Celebrated on Kumbham Thiruvonam, this vibrant event sees women devotees gathering to offer Pongala. The temple and adjoining roads fill with rows of hearths as flame is passed from the sanctum’s divine fire, connecting the community in devotional unity.
Held in late winter or early spring, the temple marks its yearly cycle by hoisting the Kodiyettu, followed by days of poojas, community feasts, cultural performances, and culminating in Arattu the idol’s ritual immersion in nearby waters, symbolizing divine cleansing and renewal.
