Kandiyoor Sree Mahadeva Temple Alappuzha

Kandiyoor Sree Mahadeva Temple, an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, is nestled in Kandiyooralappuzha near Mavelikkara, situated on the serene banks of the Achankovil river.

The primary deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, revered as Kandiyoorappan, the presiding deity of Kandiyoor. The sanctum sanctorum, facing eastward, is adorned with a two-tiered rectangular structure, featuring a unique platform in the front for devotees, reminiscent of the Hoysala architectural style

The temple's distinctive architecture includes a bottom tier of oval shape and a top tier of rectangular design, while a towering 10 feet Gajaprishta-style wall, believed to be constructed by Shiva's Bhoothaganas, surrounds the sacred precincts. Anthipooja vazhipadu

Anthipooja vazhipadu is a sacred ritual observed as a special offering to Thrikkantiyoorappan at the Thrikkantiyoor Mahadeva Temple. During this ritual, devotees participate in prayers, offerings, and rituals conducted to honor and seek the blessings of the deity. This significant ceremony symbolizes devotion, gratitude, and spiritual reverence towards Thrikkantiyoorappan, fostering a deep connection between the worshippers and the divine.
