It holds significance as one of the major Bhadrakali temples in Kerala and celebrates the rare Thripputhu festival, during which the temple is closed for three days due to the irregular menstruation of the deity. The temple conducts five daily pujas, three for Lord Shiva and three for Bhadrakali, with the presiding deity Mahadeva facing east in the form of a lingam, while the image of his consort Bhadrakali is positioned behind it facing west.
Additionally, shrines for Shasta, Nilagriva, and an image of Ganesha adorn the temple precincts, with the Bhadrakali deity sculpted from panchaloha, an alloy of five metals, believed to have been brought to the temple by Perumachuten.
